10. Public health
All of the above contain articles detailing threats to our public health and well-being. Climate changes create some of the biggest threats to us as humans. Heat waves may lead to heat strokes and dehydration or weather-related fatality. A weak ozone layer makes us more vulnerable to skin cancer and other negative effects such as respiratory problems and infections that result from the sun’s radiation. We breathe in pollutants that are not recognized or usable by our bodies. Particulate matter absorbed in the atmosphere is breathed in, and inhaling these particles can lead to a wide range of negative health issues, such as premature mortality, cardiovascular problems, respiratory disease, etc., as noted by the United Nations Environment Program and the United States Environmental Protection Agency.
