2. Energy production
We are a very oil-based, gasoline-dependent society. We depend on gasoline imports from the Middle East and South America. The problem with dependence on gas for energy is the emissions that are released into the atmosphere, which pollute the ozone layer. Also, some energy-producing systems may pollute our land and water systems. What we need to do is research and utilize alternative methods of energy, many of which are currently being implemented, such as solar systems, hybrid vehicles, tidal wave energy conversions and wind energy. We must use what nature has already provided.
