1 – For Good
Performers: Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth
Probably the most touching moment in a Broadway show you’ll ever experience, especially if you’re familiar with the film The Wizard of Oz, this song written by Stephen Schwartz from the amazing musical Wicked summarizes and underscores the moment in which two best friends go their separate ways for the betterment of each other, singing what could be their last moments together as a thank you to the other for playing such an integral part in their lives. This beautifully written piece occurs just at the pre-climax of the story. The composition and performance of this song touches our individual, vulnerable hearts (especially if you’ve seen Kristin Chenoweth’s last performance on Wicked) to find the true value of friendship in life and the meaning of what it is to be a true friend, that “because I knew you, I have been changed for good.”
