Oscar winner Catherine Zeta-Jones is going back to a health facility to seek treatment for her bipolar II disorder.

In a statement to People, the Chicago actress’ rep said that “Catherine has proactively checked into a health care facility...Previously Catherine has said that she is committed to periodic care in order to manage her health in an optimum manner.”

A friend told the site that there was “no big problem” and that this is just a move to help doctors keep an eye on her medication. “This was just a good time to do it. She is in between projects. This has always been part of the plan. She would manage her health. She is vigilant about it,” the friend told the magazine.

Another source told TMZ that it is “maintenence” and a proactive choice.

Zeta-Jones spent time at a Connecticut facility in 2011 for treatment of the disorder, which causes emotional mood swings, including periods of depression. “This is a disorder that affects millions of people and I am one of them,” the 43-year-old told People in 2011. “If my revelation of having bipolar II has encouraged one person to seek help, then it is worth it. There is no need to suffer silently and there is no shame in seeking help.”

Zeta-Jones and husband Michael Douglas were recently seen together at the Film Society of Lincoln Center’s gala to honor Barbra Streisand in New York. Douglas was at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner Saturday without Zeta-Jones.

In 2013, Zeta-Jones has been in Side Effects and Broken City. She’s currently working on the action sequel Reds 2.
