Lil Wayne Talks Not Hearing Nicki Minaj and Drake's Albums, His Love for 'Jersey Shore'

'Huawei': A foreshadowing name?

Chinesepod's Carlie discusses the meaning of the name 'Huawei' in light of the recent national security concerns of the Whitehouse

Lil Wayne shares the same record label as fellow Young Money artists Drake and Nicki Minaj, however, the rapper reveals in a new interview that he hasn’t even had time to sit down and listen to their albums Thank Me Later and Pink Friday from start to finish. On Tuesday, Wayne talked to Angie Martinez from Hot 97 and said, “I never even heard Drake's album, I never heard Nicki's album, I swear to God.” He added, "I work too hard to. This is what we supposed to do. I've heard the songs. I'm always focused on something and it captures my whole attention, I can't do nothing else." MTV News reports that the rapper went on to say that he would rather Minaj and Drake outsell him to benefit their record label as a whole. "What people have to understand and consider is the fact that I didn't have my team established when I came out saying I'm the best," he said. “So I had to draw the focus on me. Just like everybody else that did it the proper way. [Jay-Z] came out, he wasn't telling us about nobody else. "And then he said, 'But this is my people.' If you listen to Jay, Jay will let [Memphis] Bleek start his No. 1 album off. So he give them that utmost respect at all times and that's what I do with my artists. I want their singles to be hotter than mine. That's why Nicki on the show, that's why Nicki comes out after me. It's all a plan." Furthermore, MTV reports that although he’s too busy to sit down to hear albums, he finds enough time to proclaim that Jersey Shore is his favorite show. “On the real, I just started watching Jersey Shore,” he said in the same interview. “You can ask them, I’m mad I missed out. And then the other day Vinny had on a 'Free Weezy' shirt. I rocks with Jersey Shore, man.” As for the guys, he favors Pauly D and Vinny over Ronnie and The Situation. “I like the fact that they set the trend you supposed to live by as a young male in this world," he said. "They go to the club, and they really come back with something like every time. Every time, fool. That’s my favorite show right there.”
