Cooper drops out of 'Crow' remake

Actor Bradley Cooper has pulled out of playing the title character in the planned remake of The Crow (1994). Cooper, who signed for the role in April, reportedly bowed out due to scheduling conflicts. He is already shooting Silver Linings Playbook this fall and Paradise Lost after that. A lawsuit between the Weinstein Company and Relativity Media has also stalled the project. Channing Tatum and Mark Wahlberg have been suggested as possible replacements. Wahlberg had previously declined the role. The original film adaptation of James O’Barr’s graphic novel starred Brandon Lee as a musician who is killed and then resurrected to avenge his murder. Lee died in a freak accident during filming, as did his father Bruce Lee while he was filming Game of Death (1978). Despite Brandon’s tragic death, the film was a success and spawned sequels and the goth look he sported in the film became iconic.
