Howard vs. Donahue

'Huawei': A foreshadowing name?

Chinesepod's Carlie discusses the meaning of the name 'Huawei' in light of the recent national security concerns of the Whitehouse

It seems that some people aren't waiting until the movie comes out to start hating on Angels and Demons. According to thehuffingtonpost.com, Ron Howard's new feature film is being attacked by William Donahue, the Catholic league president.

Howard wrote a blog for the film, saying, "It's a thriller, not a crusade." He also stated that the movie is absolutely not an anti-Catholic film, and that Catholics will most likely enjoy watching the film. He also fires back at Donahue, who has spent years opposing the director, first with Da Vinci Code, and now with Angels and Demons.

"I guess Mr. Donahue and I do have one thing in common: we both like to create fictional tales, as he has done with his silly, mean-spirited work of propaganda," Howard said.

Donahue fought back almost immediately, stating in a press release: "Howard must be delusional if he thinks Vatican officials are going to like his propaganda—they denied him the right to film on their grounds. Moreover, we know from a Canadian priest who hung out with Howard's crew last summer in Rome (dressed in civilian clothes) just how much they hate Catholicism. It's time to stop the lies and come clean."
