Mean Girls
In the new movie, Mean Girls, Lindsay Lohan stars as a nice girl turned mean turned, well, you are just going to have to see it to find out.
In life, only the strong survive. And the same goes for high school. Cady Heron (Lohan) just started North Shore High School after being home school while traveling the African Outback for the first fifteen years of her life. She has a chance encounter with the most popular girls in the school and becomes one of them overnight.
From the mind of Tina Fey, who wrote the screenplay for this movie, which should tell you right there how funny it really is, comes the story of high school girls who are just trying to fit in. This is a funny movie from beginning to end with great roles by Tim Meadows, Amy Poehler, and Ana Gasteyer, all from Saturday Night Live. However, I assure you it is not your garden-variety teen movie with stupid jokes about stupid things that never really happen in real high schools. Fey adapted the screenplay from the book, "Queen Bees and Wannabes: Helping your Daughter Survive Cliques, Gossip, Boyfriends, and Other Realities of Adolescence," which is actually not a humorous book at all, but rather deals with real life issues that are rather serious.
But, coming from the mind of Fey, who brings us hysterical comedy skits every Saturday night on Saturday Night Live, you have to believe that this is a one of a kind movie. The truth behind the movie is that it is very real, but at the same time, how can this world of "Plastics" be real.
Regina George (Rachel McAdams) plays the Queen Bee in this film and goes to all lengths to make you cringe in your seat. Her followers, Gretchen (Lacey Chabert) and Karen (Amanda Seyfried) are there to keep the comedy rolling along. Cady also meets Janis Ian (Lizzy Caplan) who shows her the ropes and then gets dumped on for all the wrong reasons. Along for the ride is the hysterical Damian played by Daniel Franzese, who couldn’t be any more perfect for the role.
Directed by Mark S. Waters, this film provides laughs throughout the whole two hours. Mean Girls is a perfect film for anyone who remembers both the good and bad times of high school.
