Craft, The

These girls are in a club all of their own.

High School can be a pretty tough time to fit into. The pressure of getting good grades, playing sports, dating, and peer pressure, in general, but what if you're the new girl in town? That can be a whole other ball game.

Sarah (Robin Tunney) is the new girl with a troubled past who tried to commit suicide. She carries the pain of knowing her mom died when giving birth to her and it is something that just eats away at her. But Sarah is settling into who she is and what she believes to be goodness around now.

Sarah has made an impression on three witchy girls who are looking for a fourth to complete their circle. These girls all have something about them that make them stand out among their classmates other than the rumors of practicing witchcraft. Bonnie (Neve Campbell) is tormented by the awful burn scars that cover parts of her body. Rochelle (Rachel True) is painfully made fun of by Laura (Christine Taylor), the blond snob goddess of the school because she doesn't like the color of Rochelle's skin. Then, there is Nancy (Fairuza Balk) the most verbal and opinionated in the group.

Sarah has also caught the eye of Chris (Skeet Ulrick) one very popular and handsome jock who Nancy warns Sarah to stay away from because he is hurtful and diseased and has the power to make her life miserable.

At first, things are fun and innocent while little magical powers are coming into play, but the girls wish for spells to take certain form and soon dangerous and vengeful emotions start brewing. When Sarah starts to feel guilty over the love spell she cast on Chris she looks for help from Lirio (Assumpta Serna), the owner of a magical shop. She warns the girls that whatever you send out you get back three times and now Sarah will have to wait the spell out and hope it doesn't cause any further problems.

After Nancy has invoked the spirit of Mano she seeks out Chris and plots her revenge on him for the pain he has caused her.

After what Nancy did to Chris, Sarah wants out of the group for the guilt consumes her. Her magic spell lead to an awful fate for Chris that should never have happened.

Now Sarah has the fight of her life in front of her. With Nancy's magic, now turned evil, and Bonnie and Rochelle under her wing they're out to get Sarah for deserting the coven.

Believing in herself, the power of her mother, and invoking the spirit of Mano for the greater good is the only way Sarah has a chance to fight the evil in Nancy.

The Craft is an enjoyable movie with a great cast and lots of special effects to enhance the look and feel of the movie.

Music includes Letters to Cleo who did an awesome cover of the Cars classic "Dangerous Type." Other artists include Jewel, Matthew Sweet, and Love Spit Love who did a fabulous cover of the Smiths ageless song "How Soon Is Now."
