How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days

How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days is a likeable romantic comedy where the audience cares about the characters. Some of the comedies lately have had actors and actresses that I admire, but the story lines aren't motivating me enough to go see them, or if I do go, I don't like what I saw. I am happy to report that this movie is a refreshing treat for romantics like myself.

Andie Anderson (Kate Hudson) is a bright, beautiful and compassionate journalist who writes a "How To" column for the woman's magazine "Composure", one that has leaped off the stands to become the fastest growing woman's magazine in the country. As prestigious as that may be, Andie has journalistic goals that have her striving to write about important religious, social, and political situations affecting our country. One small problem squashing Andie's dreams is her editor, Lana ( Bebe Neuwirth) who only wants fluffy, cute, feminine issues written about in Andie's monthly column.

Benjamin Barry (Matthew McConaughey) is a slick, cool, fast thinking, wine and dine ad executive and a major hunk! Benjamin is gearing up to land a big time career altering campaign... he hopes. He wants to get out of the beer and sports equipment advertisements he's been working on, and concentrate on ritzy accounts like... diamonds. What luck for Benjamin, there's a client looking for just the ad executive to "Wow" the city with their new slogan. Benjamin asks his boss Phillip (Robert Klein) to let him be the one to make the proposal to the client. There's hesitation at first, but Benjamin makes a bet with Phillip that in 10 days he can make any woman fall in love with him (with the exception of course of those women who are married or otherwise encumbered with the same sex). Benjamin will escort that lady to the diamond consortium gala, proving he can gain the trust over the client's account and just how smooth he really is.

Andie, in order to get her editor's respect in her writing endeavors, and to help out a close friend's "issues" with why she can't hold onto a man, poses an idea for her "How To" column; on how not to have a guy lose interest in you by doing all the things a girl "shouldn't do". Her boss calls the heading "How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days" and just salivates over the idea of it and can't wait for Andie to get cracking on it.

Now all Andie and Benjamin have to do is find a poor slobbering man to irritate the blazes out of, and have a woman fall in love with him.

Now you have it, two gutsy, talented, and creatively intelligent professionals who are both going for the same thing..a win for their team, but at what cost?

Before any of that is going to happen, Andie and Benjamin will have to play hardball if this bet is to succeed. While Andie is cruising for a break-up session, Benjamin is planning for love to bloom in his court. Tricky tricky, stuff, lots of patience and teeth grinding are going to have a toll on these two.

With all this heated and stressful pressure Andie and Benjamin never expected to actually fall in love with one another. Now that they have, what is going to happen when they find out each was a ploy in the others bet?

When all is done many questions and feelings will come out professionally and personally for Andie and Benjamin. Will they let their pride stand in the way of love, or jump back into what just might have been the real thing?

My bet..pick up a copy of "How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days" to find out.

Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey were stunningly breathtaking and charming. A great pairing of two very engaging and wonderfully talented people who took over the screen with humor, sex-appeal, and emotion.

A very entertaining movie which I'm glad I rented.
