American Mod
Friendship is the ultimate group to be hanging with. Starring Dave Elliot, Chantal Claret, Stian, Celeste Octavia, Brett Berg, and Quentin Crisp
Group Four Films is an independent film company that made an eye-catching
movie based on the now-happening American Mod experience that takes place
in New York's subculture. It's a dazzling, trippy look into a colorful
world that originated in England in the '60s.
Written and creatively directed by the talented Kolton Lee, American Mod is
an eclectic mix of fashion, music, the club scene, and those very cool
scooters getting you to where the action is fashionably dressed, and the
music is hip! Like so many who cannot wait until Friday night to let loose
and have a good time, the truth is the same for the unintimidated, and
flirty Chester (Dave Elliot) and his two closest friends. Chester, now has
an even better agenda mapped out for this coming Friday night excursion
because he's been hit with the love bug after meeting a beauty, named Julie
(Celeste Octavia), in a record store.Apparently Julie has no interest in
Chester, but after using strategic means he's able to get the goods from
Zak, the record store owner, on where this beauty will be hanging out.
Chester's best friends who join him will be Max (Stian), who's the
laid-back, quiet one with a streak of wild in him at times and Sandy
(Chantal Claret), the opinionated, tough, tomboyish (but still cute) friend
of the group who has a thing for Chester.
They're all looking to score a little "higher" feeling to their usual
Friday night thrill with a pill called "cake." Well, Max goofed and didn't
hook them up with their regular supplier. Now their going to meet Max's
annoying, slimy, jerky half brother, Stephan (Brett Berg), in Brooklyn to
make good on the deal. The deal went through, but the "cake" went flat--and
these three friends are ripped! Now they're on a mission to get back their
Friday night groove thing. But in order to do that, they're going to have
to trudge through Brooklyn's darker, seedier sides of the city to where
Stephan lives with his grandma (Quentin Crisp). Yes, that's right, his
grandma--and she's a ticket!
They hope to score themselves another slice of "cake" and still have time
to head over to the club to see if Chester's lady interest is there. It's
going to be a night to remember! The soundtrack by Headquarters is swaying
with psychedelic power and racing with attitude. It takes you to the past
with a future that's alive and sizzling with its own unique style. With all
the glitz and pumped-up energy circulating your head, it'll knock you over
with the deafening sound of excitement. Among everything else, though,
friendship is what will always keep it real and that never goes out of
style. That, is the true message -- the best sounding voice in the film.
