Kryptonite Kryptogrip
Written by: Michael Mardings
A small and convenient bike lock
Even though Kryptonite is known to cause injury and possibly death to Superman, it's good in this case. I've grown up using the big and bulky u-type bike locks that weighed one down and generally caused lots of problems. They were immensely heavy while riding and got in my way while pedaling.
The Kryponite Kryptogrip is the lightest and most convenient lock I've ever seen. It's literally palm-sized, and the cable winds into itself and back again. I've wrapped it around my bike and didn't even notice it was there. Then I could throw it in my pocket and keep going.
Yes, as a cable it's not as secure as those massively bulky U-type locks. However, any thief would have to be pretty determined to try and break this lock to steal my cheap bike. If they're willing to risk bringing out the professionally massive wire cutters in public, let them have my bike.
