America Ferrera’s Teeth Insured for $10 Million
15-May-2007
Written by: Courtney Thompson

Aquafresh White Trays requested insurance for her smile for a charity campaign.

Ugly Betty’s leading lady America Ferrera has had her smile insured for $10 million by Lloyds of London insurance market.

But the insurance wasn’t taken out for pure vanity. The policy was taken out by Aquafresh White Trays, a teeth whitening manufacturer that is working with the actress on a charity campaign that gives jobless women free dental care.

Ferrera plays the show’s main character, Betty Suarez, who is cursed with bulky braces and a poor fashion sense to match, while working at a snobby and high-end fashion magazine.

This request to protect body parts and other anatomy isn’t unusual for Lloyds of London. They have provided insurance for Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards's fingers as well as Bette Davis’s waistline and Marlene Dietrich’s legs.
