Elton John Turns 60
25-Mar-2007
Written by: Courtney Thompson
Elton John played his 60th show at Madison Square Garden to celebrate his 60th birthday.
When Sir Elton John turned 60, he couldn’t just have a lavish birthday party at a swank night spot and call it a night. The eccentric singer played his 60th show at Madison Square Garden in New York, holding the record for most performances at the venue. The Grateful Dead previously held the record at 52. A private birthday party in Manhattan followed.
The sold out concert, titled “Happy Birthday, Elton,” was streamed live on the Internet through MSN and Control Room and will be aired on MyNetworkTV on April 5.
The fun doesn’t stop there. On Monday, iTunes will feature all of Elton John’s catalogue, featuring 30 CDs, for the first time. Some of his hits will also be available for ring tones.
Rocket Man: Number Ones, a CD+DVD album, will drop on Tuesday. It is a collection of all of his hits digitally remastered.
