Avril Lavigne Opens Up About Marriage

Punk princess Avril Lavigne gives insight about married live in the April issue of Jane
Avril Lavigne opened up about her marriage to Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley in the April issue of Jane. Though the newly weds have to spend a lot of time apart due to their successful music careers, Lavigne,, 22, doesn’t worry about her husband straying when he’s on the road. "We have a really good, strong relationship," she says. "There's a lot of trust."
Lavigne and Whibley married in July in their native Ontario, Canada. Despite Lavigne’s less-than-conventional style, the ceremony was traditional.
"I wanted to be like, 'Oh, let's totally have a rock 'n' roll, goth wedding,' " Lavigne told Jane. "But at the same time I was like, 'I've been dreaming about my wedding day since I was a little girl. I have to wear the white dress.' I wanted to be a princess, okay?"
Lavigne also opened up about drug use, something that she is very against. "I've never done coke in my life, and I'm proud of that. Oh my God! I could never. I am 100 percent against drugs," she said.
As for her hubby, Lavigne admits he wasn’t always clean. "He doesn't do drugs. Clearly, he used to, because he talked about it, but I wouldn't be with someone who did, and I made that very clear to him when we first started dating."
Lavigne has made headlines recently for spitting at the paparrazi, but she doesn’t understand what all the fuss is about. "I don't know what the big deal was, because I've been spitting at paparazzi the past two years I've lived in L.A.," she said. "It was funny. But I think if Britney had had no underwear on that week, my spitting thing wouldn't have been talked about."
