Pitbull beats DUI charges.
On July 9, Pitbull, real name Armando Perez, was found not guilty of DUI charges he obtained on December of 2007 and he calls the arrest “erroneous.”
In an interview with Allhiphop.com, Perez stated, “I had my day in court and justice was served. I have achieved and we fought this accusation to the end. I want to thank my attorneys Jim Best and Joseph Vredevelt; all the fans, and most of important of all; I thank God for letting justice prevail.”
The trial took place on Wednesday, July 8, for an incident in 2007, where he was arrested for traveling 93 mph on the Palmetto Expressway. On the police report, the arresting officer claimed that Perez refused to exit his Mercedes-Benz and when he finally did, he failed every field sobriety test. The officer claimed that he couldn’t even walk a straight line and he smelled alcohol on his breath.
Perez also refused to take a “Breathalyzer” test and according to testimony, the incident was not caught on the arresting officer’s dash board camera.
When he took the stand, he told jurors that he was targeted because he was a celebrity, minus the fact that the police stopped him for doing 93 mph on the expressway.
The jurors found Perez not guilty after three hours of deliberating.
“Justice truly was done in this case and we thank the jurors for their time and the people of Miami for their support of Mr. Perez during this trial,” said Vredevelt and Best in a joint statement released to Allhiphop.com.
