'Wolverine' actors to catapult to 'Mars'

Taylor Kitsch and Lynn Collins, both of whom starred in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” will next appear in the film adaptation of an Edgar Rice Burroughs book series that chronicles a Civil War veteran’s unexplained transportation to the planet, Mars.
Walt Disney Pictures is making a film adaptation of the Edgar Rice Burroughs book series entitled, “John Carter of Mars” and has cast “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” stars Taylor Kitsch and Lynn Collins.
According to an article on Variety.com, Kitsch will play the lead role, a damaged Civil War veteran, who finds himself on Mars where his involvements with warring races of the dying planet inspire him to rediscover his humanity.
Kitsch’s other motion picture credits include, “Snakes on a Plane” and “John Tucker Must Die.” He has also been seen on the ABC Family teen science fiction drama, “Kyle XY.” As for Collins, she appeared in the 2006 Keanu Reeves/Sandra Bullock film, “The Lake House,” and the 2007 Jim Carrey/Virginia Madsen thriller, “The Number 23.”
In ”Mars,” Collins will play Dejah Thoris, the Princess of Mars and the heir to the throne of Mars's Helium kingdom.
As with Kitsch, Collins also starred in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” playing Hugh Jackman's character's love interest, Kayla Silverfox. She also has a recurring role on the HBO vampire series, “True Blood.”
Kitsch’s role in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” is Remy LeBeau, better known as “Gambit.” Kitsch also stars on NBC’s hit sports drama, “Friday Night Lights.”
Andrew Stanton, the director of 2008’s “WALL-E,” will be directing “Mars.” Stanton wrote the screenplay with Mark Andrews. Jim Morris and Colin Wilson will be producing and filming is set to begin early next year.
Kitsch is repped by WMA and Untitled. Collins is repped by WME and 3 Arts.
