Hannah Montana Star Mitchel Musso’s Debut Album

Musso’s music will limit his role on the hit Disney sitcom in its fourth season
“Hannah Montana’s” Mitchel Musso is showing what he has to offer beyond his kid-friendly character with the release of his self-titled debut album Tuesday. Musso was introduced to the world as a child actor in the movie “Monster House,” but has experienced his greatest success as Oliver Oken on the Emmy-nominated Disney sitcom, which got picked up for a fourth season. However, Musso’s music will limit his role in the upcoming season to a recurring status.
Fans will get to see the 17-year old actor, singer and songwriter, just not for the first few episodes of the upcoming season. Oliver wrapped season 3 by landing a radio internship and left on a six-month tour. Musso begins his real-life tour June 11 in Los Angeles, where he spent time, in addition to New York, working on the album with top producers and songwriters who have worked with No Doubt and Christina Aguilera. Last summer, the up-and-coming artist began work on the album while filming “Hannah Montana The Movie.”
Musso co-wrote four of the albums 12 songs. The first single off the album, “The In Crowd” is in rotation on the Disney Channel and Radio Disney. The album features songs about girls, partying and being yourself, Musso said in an interview with Seattlepi.com. Several songs deal specifically with breaking up, including what he considers his “edgiest” track, “Us Against the World” featuring Katelyn Tarver, and “Hey.” Musso likens his sound to that of the psychedelic-pop band MGMT with his blend of rock, dance, electro and hip-hop.
