Father “Oprah” Breaks Celibacy Vows

Earning the nickname “Father Oprah” for his love advice and hosted shows on Telemondo, a popular Miami priest is leaving the Catholic Church after being photographed frolicking on the beach with his girlfriend, reports the Miami Herald.
The Rev. Alberto Cutie was removed as the popular priest from his Miami Beach church when photos covered the pages of a Spanish language tabloid this month. According to the New York Times, the pictures revealed the priest embracing and kissing a woman on a Florida beach.
Due to his book, Real Life, Real Love, and his many appearances on radio and television, he was known as Padre “Oprah.” The New York Times reports the Roman Catholic priest admitted on Thursday that he was torn between two loves, his church and his girlfriend.
Cutie, 40, was received into the Episcopal church along with his fiancee, Ruhama Buni Canellis, 35, in a private ceremony. The New York Times quoted him as saying, “With God’s help, I hope to continue priestly ministry and service in my new spiritual home.”
