Eastwood’s “Baby” Receives Critical Acclaim

The female boxing film named best film at the National Society of Film Critics awards.
On Saturday, Clint Eastwood’s film, “Million Dollar Baby” with Hilary Swank lived up to its name as the National Society of Film Critics honored it as the best film at a ceremony in Manhattan.
The dramedy, “Sideways” took home second place and the romantic drama, “Before Sunset” came in at third.
Swank’s role as an aspiring female boxer tied for best actress with Imelda Staunton’s portrayal of an abortionist in “Vera Drake”. Julie Delpy’s role in “Sunset” got third.
As for the men, Jamie Foxx’s roles “Ray” and “Collateral” were praised as he received the best actor award. Paul Giamatti from “Sideways” came in at second, followed by Eastwood’s role in “Baby”.
Zhang Yimou’s martial arts masterpieces, “House of Flying Daggers” and “Hero” received the honor of best director, while “Moolaade” took home top honors for best foreign-language film. In the non-fiction category, Jonathan Caouette’s “Tarnation” garnered the top award.
