Celebrity Plane Crashes and You
24-Dec-2008

DJ AM and Travis Barker are not the first musicians to get into plane accidents.
DJ AM and Travis Barker are filing suits against several defendants. According to the suit, "Rather than proceed to takeoff, they decided to abort and/or reject the takeoff in a negligent manner." This isn’t the first group of celebrities that have gotten into plane crashes. For a normal, everyday person, you probably won’t be riding in a smaller aircraft.
There have been quite a lot of musicians that have died in plane crashes, ranging from artists like Buddy Holly, Patsy Cline, Jim Croce, and John Denver. Most recently, Aaliyah died in a plane crash in 2001. But the list doesn’t just include musicians, several actors, politicians, royalty and sports figures have died in plane crashes.
In theory, a large plane is about seven times safer than driving in a car. As a passenger, there are not that many things one could do in an airplane—making sure you know the exits, and where all the emergency items are (i.e., oxygen mask, life vests), and how to use them can also help. The best tip is to be calm if anything happens and listen to the instructions of the flight attendants.
In any form of travel, even walking, you have to be aware of your surroundings and know what to do when an emergency hits. When you’re flying on a large aircraft, the companies that own the aircraft have high standards for their pilots and if the weather conditions are bad, they will probably delay a flight.
