Reeves to Become Samurai

Keanu Reeves is taking on a rigorous challenge by playing a Samurai swordsman in Universal Pictures' upcoming heroic film, 47 Ronin.
Keanu Reeves will star in an epic Japanese period film from Universal Pictures, entitled 47 Ronin.
According to Variety, [The film is] based on the true tale of a band of samurai swordsmen who avenged the death of their master in 18th century Japan.
Chris Morgan, who wrote the upcoming Fast and Furious pic, will be writing the script. He is molding the script so that Reeves, who is half Asian, will fit the role of one of the swordsmen with ease.
As for the movies plot, Variety states, In 47 Ronin, he [Reeves] will play one of the swordsmen; the group and their master are revered in Japan for their revenge attack on Dec. 14, 1702.
The film will mix the fantasy components of the Lord of the Rings trilogy and the excessively rough battle scenes of Gladiator.
Once a director is found, the plan is to begin shooting next year. Scott Stuber will produce 47 Ronin through his Stuber Productions banner. The executive producers attached to the project are Walter Hamada and Chris Fenton.
Stuber is also shooting Couples Retreat, starring Vince Vaughn, and is preparing for the release of Traveling, starring Jennifer Aniston, and Repossession Mambo, starring Jude Law and Forest Whitaker.
