EBay proves that we’re still willing to spend money on ANYTHING.
OK, so she was voted “Hottest Woman Alive” by both Esquire and FHM. She’s got a three-car pileup body, a sultry voice, the most famous lips this side of Jolie, and . . . a cold. Apparently, some people out there think even her germs are sexy. During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, the New York City-born actress and four-time Golden Globe nominee graciously offered to put up for auction a tissue that had been blessed with a Scarlett sneeze. To sweeten the deal, the cold had originated from the embattled immune system of The Spirit costar Samuel L. Jackson. On Thursday, eBay nation had scrounged up a high bid of $2,151 (free shipping!) and a counter offer of a faux-germy tissue, courtesy of a cute puppy named Baily. Although proceeds from the auction will go to charity, one has to wonder: If we’re spending money on celebrity snot, can the economy really be that bad?
