Californication Gets Green Light
3-Dec-2008
Written by: Michael Pascua

Showtime green-lights a third season.

The dark comedy, Californication, has been given a green light from Showtime. The third season will get 12 episodes that will hopefully air in late 2009. It stars David Duchovny as Hank Moody. Season 2’s finale will air on Dec. 14 at 10 p.m./ET.

In a statement from Robert Greenblat, Showtime’s president of entertainment, “It wouldn't be Showtime without a yearly dose of ‘Californication.’ This unapologetic show, about a group of characters led by the inimitable David Duchovny, has quickly established itself as one of our signature comedy series. Beneath its veneer of debauchery, however, is a complex take on love and adult relationships that surprisingly turns poetic and romantic just when you least expect it.”

Duchovny has made headlines this year from receiving treatment for his sex addiction; there have also been rumors of his separation from his wife.

Californication is the story of Hank Moody, a writer who is plagued with personal demons. The show won an Emmy for Outstanding Cinematography for a Half-Hour Series and Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Musical or Comedy, both in 2008.
