President Bush Pardons John Forte
28-Nov-2008
Written by: Sayed Islam

President Bush pardons John Forte.

The rapper John Forte and 14 other people were all pardoned by President Bush. According to a music television contributor in Gil Kaufman, “He had been serving a sentence of 14 years in prison since 2001, after being found guilty of possession of 31 pounds of liquid cocaine with intent to distribute.” Although it is still unclear as to why Forte was given a pardon by President Bush, many people can infer that a 14-year sentence for a first time cocaine distribution offense was excessive.

With Forte’s new found freedom, he can finally search for work again and has a right to vote. He was locked up at a Pennsylvania Lorreto Federal Penitentiary for being in possession of 1.4 million dollars worth of cocaine, and he was caught by the authorities eight years ago at Newark International Airport. Many other celebrities including hip-hop icon Russell Simmons have been imploring for Forte’s release, and Forte will be a free man next month.
