Jackson to Testify in U.K.
20-Nov-2008
Written by: Marissa Willman

Singer Michael Jackson has been cleared by his medical advisers to travel to the United Kingdom to testify in his defense of a breach-of-contract lawsuit.

Just days after his lawyer requested a video conference for his testimony and claimed the singer could not travel due to medical reasons, singer Michael Jackson has withdrawn his request and will travel to the United Kingdom to testify in a breach-of-contract lawsuit that has been brought against him, according to E! Online.

"He has been cleared by his medical advisers to travel in two days' time," his lawyer, Robert Englehart, told London’s High Court on Thursday.

The self-proclaimed King of Pop is expected to make the flight sometime over the weekend to begin his testimony on Monday.

Jackson is being sued by Sheik Abdulla Bin Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa, the son of the king of Bahrain. The lawsuit claims that Jackson was paid $7 million to produce an album, autobiography and a play. Al-Khalifa alleges that Jackson did not hold up his end of the bargain.

The sheik took the stand today and referred to Jackson as “delightful” but “emotionally vulnerable.”

"I regarded him in the same way as other businessmen," he said. "He is a person who is very switched on, a fantastic businessman and fantastic intellectual."
