Barbara Walters Talks About “Some People”
20-Nov-2008
Written by: Jill Marino

Journalist discusses O’Donnell comments.

On Thursday morning’s episode of The View, creator Barbara Walters shed some light on the comments made by former co-host and moderator Rosie O’Donnell, reports the Associated Press.

Instead of referring to her by name, Walters stated that “some people who have done this show” begin to criticize it after they leave.

Walters went on to say that when it comes to the show, these ex-hosts feel compelled “to dump on it, maybe for their own publicity” and “that not only hurts me, but I resent it.”

The subject came up on the show because yesterday, O’Donnell, who is promoting her new variety show, told reporters that Walters has a tendency to make the public think that everyone on the show gets along off-camera. O’Donnell said since leaving the show, she feels like she’s been suffering from some kind of “post-traumatic stress disorder.”

O’Donnell left The View in the spring of 2007 after coming to blows with conservative co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck on camera in a fight about the war in Iraq, which the liberal O’Donnell was strongly against. Whoopi Goldberg replaced her, taking the moderator position in the fall of that year.
