Kidman Becomes Individual-Type Actress After Split with Cruise
7-Nov-2008
Written by: E. Van Dril

She’s an individual now.

When Nicole Kidman's 10-year marriage to Tom Cruise ended in 2001, she finally became an individual in terms of her career.

The actress recently said that she was never considered a top-of-the-line star when she was married to Cruise, only as an extension of sorts to the movie star.

But then, two years after divorcing Cruise, Kidman (who's currently married to Keith Urban) became a legit A-list actress by winning a Best Actress Oscar for her role in The Hours.

She goes on to admit in Glamour magazine that her career has taken off since splitting from Cruise.

"I felt I became a star only by association," Kidman told Glamour. "I felt it was my job to put on a beautiful dress and be seen and not heard."

Check out the new issue of Glamour.
