Singer will.i.am will debut new video expressing his excitement about newly elected Barack Obama.
As are many stars, will.i.am is expressing his excitement over President-elect Barack Obama. According to the Associated Press, the singer will be debuting his new music video, November 7, on The Oprah Winfrey Show.
The song is titled “It's a New Day” and includes the line, “The dreams that I've been dreaming has finally come true.” The song was performed inside the Chicago studio, while video of the Chicago rally from election night displayed on a screen behind. Black and white photos of historical figures such as Martin Luther King, Jr. and Harriet Tubman were also included in the video.
Will.i.am explained to Oprah that words couldn't even describe the emotions he felt when Obama was named the next president of the United States. “I thought of all the people that paved the way for that moment,” the singer exclaimed.
Will.i.am had been actively involved in the campaign for Obama, including making a video in which he and other celebrities recited parts of Obama's speech. The video, entitled “Yes We Can,” received millions of views online.
Friday's Oprah show also included guest appearances by George Stephanopoulos and Obama campaign worker Sam Perry. Perry gained instant celebrity status as shots of a teary-eyed Winfrey were shown leaning over his shoulder on election night. Winfrey admits not knowing who Perry was at the time because she was so distracted from all of the celebrations and excitement. After apologizing for crying on his shoulder, Perry told Winfrey not to worry about it, bringing the jacket with him, and telling her, “And you'll see there is no mascara.”
