Robbie Williams Agrees to Record a New Album
8-Oct-2008
Written by: E. Van Dril

Williams had been on strike with EMI.

We've got some good news from the United Kingdom.

Robbie Williams has officially ended his strike against EMI, the record label that currently has him under contract, and will now record and release a new album next year.

The famed singer's manager, Tim Clark, told BBC Newsbeat that while he cannot guarantee a new album in 2009, that is Williams's goal at this point.

Williams had threatened to boycott EMI when recording his next album, because of the way the label had been run by Guy Hands, who owns EMI.

In the interview, Clark said that he and Williams felt that he was running the label like a "plantation owner."

"I was with Robbie last week. He was at home and writing songs. He played some of them to us. He's in fine spirits, in fine form and I think what he's doing sounds wonderful," Clark said. "I would certainly hope that a new album will be coming next year. There are never any guarantees but that's what we would hope.
