Kid Rock Signs Exclusive Deal with Rhapsody
3-Oct-2008
Written by: E. Van Dril

He previously said he was entirely against digital music.

Kid Rock has backed up on his previous position that he is entirely against digital music, signing an exclusive deal with Rhapsody.

Starting Friday, all of the Detroit rocker's discography will be available to both stream and download with Rhapsody and their MP3 store.

With the move, Rock becomes the latest big name artist to not allow their music on iTunes. The previous two were AC/DC and the Beatles.

The reason, at least in Kid Rock's case, is because he has recently said that he makes albums, not just songs. And because iTunes allows its users to pick and choose individual songs for download from artists' discography, Kid Rock chose to go the other way.

“[iTunes is] an old system, where iTunes takes the money, the record company takes the money, and they don’t give it to the artists,” Rock said back in June.

His deal lasts four months, and then he's free to sell his music on other services.
