NYC’s Star Studded Fashion Week
7-Sep-2008
Written by: Caitlin Donnelly
Stars fill the crowds and the catwalk at New York’s Fashion Week.
New York Fashion Week isn’t just being watched by celebrities this year; celebrities have been participating on the catwalk themselves. Olympic swimmer Dara Torres, who won three silver medals in Beijing, walked the runway. Torres strutted down the catwalk holding her 2-year-old daughter, Tessa, in the Charles Nolan show wearing an indigo and white-stripped silk jersey tank with navy swim shorts. At least she didn’t stumble like Carrie Bradshaw did in Sex and the City, which she was worried about before her appearance. She told a 20-something girl who was nervous that, “Swimming in the Olympics is much more nerve-wracking!” but it seems that she couldn’t take that advice herself. Justin Timberlake also appeared to help pump up the crowd. Jennifer Lopez and Uma Thurman were both lined up in the front row for the shows. Lopez, Thurman, Eva Longoria, Venus Williams, Anderson Cooper and Lorraine Bracco were all at the Diane Von Furstenberg show. Winona Ryder and Christina Ricci had first row seating for Donna Karan’s 20th anniversary collection show. And, on Saturday, Lindsay Lohan showed up with Samantha Ronson for Samantha’s sister, Charlotte Ronson’s, show. Surely during NY Fashion Week (which runs until September 12), with over 100 shows, there will be a lot more sightings and scandals to report.
