“Midnight Sun” Put On Hold Because of Online Leak
1-Sep-2008
Written by: Dresden Caston

The anticipated book had a rough draft running on the Internet without author’s permission.

Edward, a teen vampire, will be giving his perspective on the story, “Twilight,” in Stephenie Meyer’s most recent project. According to Meyer, only a few copies of Midnight Sun existed and she may have an idea of who the culprit was. She also added that she did not believe the person who leaked her unfinished story had any malicious intentions, reported efluxmedia.com.

Meyer put the first chapter online to give her fans a sneak peek of what was yet to come. However, after the full draft was posted, she figured she would let it all go. She believed by posting the rest of the story, people would stop looking for the illegal version online.

After doing this, she stated, “The writing is messy and flawed and full of mistakes.” According to efluxmedia.com, fans expressed on Web sites that they wanted Meyer to get over the incident and finish writing the book. Some believe she was making a big deal about the whole thing to get more attention and boost the popularity of her book.
