Denise Richards’s Reality Show Canceled
26-Aug-2008
Written by: Ray Padgett

Following low ratings and custody controversy, E! pulled the plug on “It’s Complicated.”

The middle of a custody battle may not be the best time to host a reality show, Denise Richards learned Tuesday. E! has canned her show, It’s Complicated, after only three months, OK! Magazine reports.

"The numbers started out pretty good – just over 1.5 million tuned in for the premiere episode," reported an anonymous source. "But the audience has dropped off."

The series followed Richards and her children, Sam and Lola, around the house, but their appearance just stoked the flames of the ongoing custody battle between Richards and the children’s father, Charlie Sheen. Sheen fought against the children appearing on the show, calling the move "greedy, vain and exploitative" by Richards in January. Though a judge denied his request to block their appearance, many viewers found his concerns valid. People were outraged at the foul language Richards used around her children, and the anonymous source pointed to that as a reason for the low ratings and poor reviews.

Cursing around her children wasn’t the show’s only turn-off though. Other unpleasant scenes included Denise confronting an editor over her tabloid image and a girls night out that came off as unnatural, furthering her image among viewers as an unfit mother.

"Denise has turned into an unappealing reality star," the source said. E! has made no statement.
