Madonna Concert: Fishnets and Politics
25-Aug-2008
Written by: Alexandra Perich

Madonna, 50, kicked off her “Sticky & Sweet” Tour on Saturday night at Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, according to the New York Times.

The show was filled with all things Madonna: fishnets, sequins and bondage-style outfits.

The 40,000 fans present, many wearing pink cowboy hats and assorted boas, jammed along to their Madonna favorites like “Borderline” and “La Isla Bonita,” according to the Associated Press.

However, everyone was in for a surprise when Madonna’s four-act show suddenly took a political turn. According to the New York Times and San Francisco Chronicle, during a remix of “Like a Prayer,” a video interlude showed images of destruction, global warming, and harsh leaders including Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler, Zimbabwe's authoritarian President Robert Mugabe - and the Republican presidential nominee John McCain! In another sequence were pictured Beatle John Lennon, activist Al Gore, Mahatma Gandhi - and Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.

Wonder who Madonna’s voting for this election. . . .
