Publicist says that comedian responsive to treatment and should be released soon.
Comedian Bernie Mac has been hospitalized in Chicago for pneumonia, his publicist told the Chicago Sun-Times.
Publicist Danica Smith told the newspaper, for a story on its Web site, that the 50-year-old is responding well to treatment, and should be released from the hospital soon.
Smith also said that the pneumonia isn't related to Mac's sarcoidosis, an inflammatory lung condition that has been in remission for three years.
Mac has been in the news recently for making off-color jokes last month at a fundraiser for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.
