Child Star Pleads Guilty to Cocaine Arrest

In a hearing on Wednesday, Tatum O'Neal has pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct following her arrest for allegedly buying cocaine in June.

However, according to People magazine, if the actress complies with court orders, she will have the charges made against her dropped.

The magazine claims that O’Neal was ordered to two half-day sessions of drug treatment and to pay a $95 fee. If these are met by September 4, the case “will be dismissed.”

O’Neal recently confessed, “I was trying to relapse. I made a giant, horrible mistake that I regret and feel really ashamed and embarrassed about. I take full responsibility.”

She also claimed to UsMagazine.com, “I was going to my psychiatrist. I was doing everything I could do. I have the disease of alcoholism. It's lifelong. I treat it every day by going to my 12-step program.” However, she claimed that the death of her dog “triggered” her attempted relapse.

Despite the turn of events, O’Neal is grateful for the police intervention, stating, “Just when I was about to change that and wreck my life, the cops came and saved me!”
