Season 2 American Idol winner Ruben Studdard is getting married.
People is reporting that second-season American Idol champ Ruben Studdard obtained a marriage license Monday in Alabama.
The "Velvet Teddy Bear," a nickname coined by Gladys Knight during his Idol season, will marry fiancée Surata Zuri McCants.
Studdard, 29, and McCants, 30, arrived at the Shelby County Probate Office in Columbiana, Ala. to fill out the paperwork for the license.
An eyewitness says, "They looked really happy."
There is no word on when they plan to marry, but Studdard is scheduled to begin touring with the Tony Award-winning musical revue, Ain't Misbehavin' in November.
