Poison Sues Their Previous Producing Label
21-Jun-2008
Written by: Marshall Burns
Poison has sued EMI and Capitol for “unspecified and incidental damages.”
Poison is accusing their former record label of underpayment and breaching contract rules. Papers were filed in Los Angeles that allege Capitol Records and EMI Music Marketing miscalculated years of royalties, all the way back to the 1980s, reported the BBC.
Bret Michaels, Rikki Rockett, Bobby Dall, and CC Deville made hits during the late 1980s and '90s, such as “Every Rose Has It’s Thorn” and “Talk Dirty to Me.” Both of the companies have yet to comment on the papers filed against them, according to the BBC.
The band’s lawsuit says that they tried to take a look at their financial records, but Capitol was not cooperative in the process. There is no way to determine how much money is owed and they have asked a judge to order an audit of the company’s books, reported the BBC.
The group is seeking “unspecified and incidental damages,” reported the BBC.
