Reports: McCartney Set to Announce Touring Retirement
10-Jun-2008
Written by: E. Van Dril
McCartney is one of two Beatles alive.
Sir Paul McCartney will reportedly quit touring to spend more time with his daughter—but not until after a huge farewell tour that he is preparing to announce, according to the U.K. press.
The stretch will reportedly have more than a hundred dates and will span over two years. Following its conclusion, McCartney will retire from touring on an international level in the attempt to spend more time with his daughter, Beatrice, whose mother (Heather Mills) McCartney recently divorced.
The sometimes reliable U.K. publication Sunday Mirror quoted a source close to the former Beatle as saying: “Paul explained that this tour will be the last big one. He wants to settle down and enjoy Beatrice’s childhood.”
“The tour will be the last time he performs in many parts of the world. Beatrice and his family life are going to come first. He does not want to be away for months at a time.”
