Edie Leaves Wisteria Lane for “A Few Years”
12-May-2008
Written by: E. Van Dril

Nicollette Sheridan’s future with the show is up in the air.

A shocker occurred on Wisteria Lane Sunday night. Edie Brit, Nicollette Sheridan’s character, left the rest of the desperate housewives, and it does not appear that she is coming back.

Well, in the short-term at least.

“Yes, Edie’s gone,” Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry told the Associated Press. “She won’t be back for a few years.”

Before her departure from the show, both those involved with the show and Sheridan’s people had been silent about the state of Edie on the show, as rumors swirled that she was leaving. Cherry, in fact, is still hushed about Sheridan’s role on the show.

When asked whether she’ll be back next year, Cherry responded: “We’ll have to wait until next season and see.”

But even though Edie is gone for now, Cherry said that Sheridan could return before the show ends in 2010-11.

“We do three more seasons and then it’s done,” Cherry said. “I will tear down all the sets personally.

“I want to be sure that when we leave the air, people still care.”
