DMX Arrested . . . Again

DMX under fire once more—this time for animal abuse.
As if one indictment wasn’t enough, DMX (a.k.a. Earl Simmons) was arrested early this morning on misdemeanor animal cruelty and felony drug possessions charges.
The original indictment is based on a series of searches at the rapper’s home, prompted by complaints of animal abuse on his property. Detectives seized 12 pit bulls and found the buried remains of 3 others.
Sheriff Joe Arpaio made the bust. “A guy like this DMX character, with all his money and fame, has no excuse for not providing proper care for his animal,” says Arpaio. Arpaio has made stopping animal cruelty a priority goal in his district—he even converted one of the county’s jails into an animal shelter, moving inmates to tents.
The raid was not unanticipated. DMX’s New York lawyer, Murray Richman, warned him to expect a raid after DMX refused to make his estate available to law enforcement.
According to DMX’s local attorney, Cameron Morgan, bail was set at $7,500. He expects the bail to be quickly posted.
