Cher and Tom Cruise were once an item!
Wow, Cher - you've still got it, girl. In a recent interview with Oprah, Cher told O that she and Cruise were once an item, and that she was "crazy" about him as a young man. Ostensibly after meeting at a White House reception in the 1980s, Cher spoke about her "long date" with Cruise. Different reports have placed the couple as lasting from as long as one night to a few months. In leaked bits from the Las Vegas interview, Cher spoke affectionately about a young 20-something Cruise who was "shy." Cher reportedly shared a story with Oprah about how the two went out to dinner, and Cruise told Cher how he was unpopular and shy at school. Their waitress was a girl Cruise knew from school, who he reportedly remarked would barely noticed him at all back in school. At the time of the romance, Cruise would have been less than 25 years old, and Cher was probably just under 40.
Cher started her career as half of the popular '60s singing duo, Sonny and Cher. Cher is an Oscar winning actress for her role in Moonstruck. In that film, she played a woman who fell in love with a man, (younger than her) played by Nicholas Cage. Cruise married Mimi Rogers in the '80s, and later married Nicole Kidman in 1990. Cruise is now married to actress Katie Holmes, with whom he has one child.
