Britney and CBS . . . One More Time!

Spears reprises guest role on CBS’s “How I Met Your Mother.”

Britney Spears is scheduled for a return to the CBS sitcom, How I Met Your Mother, as the bubbly secretary, Abby, in the May 12 episode, CBS reports Monday to the Associated Press.

Previously, Spears appeared in the March 24 episode, in which she won great reviews and boosted Mother’s viewership from 9.6 million the previous week to 10.6 million.

Last seen, Abby had a flirtatious relationship with Neil Patrick Harris’s womanizing character, Barney. The new episode, which began production Monday, features Abby and Barney showing their mutual dislike of Ted (cast member Josh Radnor) and having fun acting on it.

CBS has said in a release, “Desperate to get a rise out of his former pal, Barney pops a surprising question to Abby.” What is the question? Viewers will just have to tune in and see.

The pop star's camp originally approached the show about taking part, executive producer Carter Bays told the Associated Press earlier this month. The series’ executive producer and co-creator, Craig Thomas, said that the show is “so thrilled to have Britney joining us once again.” Jokingly, he added, “And just to head it off at the pass this time around: Yes, Mom, Britney's very nice and no, I can't get her autograph for you.”

How I Met Your Mother stars Harris, Radnor, Cobie Smulders, Alyson Hannigan and Jason Segel (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) as an urban family of 20-something New Yorkers.
