When a Girl Goes Beyond Wild

Ashley Dupré’s lawsuit on Joe Francis
TMZ and People have reported that Ashley Alexandra Dupré, the girl at the center of the Gov. Eliot Spitzer scandal, has filed a lawsuit earlier today against Girls Gone Wild founder Joe Francis for exploitation of her name and image for profit.
Dupré claims that she never gave GGW or Francis permission to use her name and image for their videos and advertisements. As a result, she asks for $10 million. She alleges that the GGW crew approached her during her 2003 vacation in Miami’s Chesterfield Hotel, got her to drink a big amount of alcohol, and in turn, persuaded her to expose her breasts for cameras—all when she was only 17 years old.
Since then, Dupré has become famous, and GGW has released the videos illegally, thus exploiting her name, picture, voice, and likeness in a number of ads and Web sites.
Dupré turns 23 this week. She argues that at the time when she was only 17, she was not old enough to “understand the magnitude” of what she was doing, and she was also drunk. But TMZ reports that she had a fake ID that says otherwise.
Last month, Francis was released from a Nevada jail, as he continues to face federal tax evasion charges. Alongside of that, he is also charged with filming underage girls in Panama City. Regarding this matter, he currently cannot be reached for comment.
