Meet the Parents: Rock of Love II
6-Apr-2008
Written by: Mallory Groff
This week, the parents came to visit.
The three girls returned to an empty house and were forced to do some cleaning because guests were arriving. Then the fateful moment when the doorbell rings occurred, it wasn’t an ex of Bret’s, though, the families came! Remember how well that went last season?
Ambre’s father arrived first. When Bret came out to greet the parents, the surprise of all surprises occurred, Bret was not wearing a bandana. That guy’s got a nice head of hair. Destiny’s father and mother showed up next; they were adorable biker hippies. When Daisy realized that the families were coming, she began to question who could possibly come for her because she has no family. She was pleasantly surprised when her ex’s sister, Stephanie, turned up.
In one of the saddest moments on Rock of Love, Destiny’s father had liver cancer and he only had until March to live (the series was recorded previously). That moment was followed by one of the most amusing moments though, when Bret learned that Ambre is really 37, even though she said she was 32! Oh no!
The families had a barbecue dinner and watched some Poison home videos. Destiny rocked out a bit too much during the video concert, making some people uncomfortable and making Bret question whether she just loves the rock star.
To spend time with the girls’ guests, Bret first took Daisy and Stephanie out for dinner, and the horse was beat again when Bret asked about Daisy’s ex again. Stephanie stood by Daisy’s side and insisted that there is no relationship between Daisy and her brother. While they are out on their date, Destiny kind of reveals that she might not be around for Bret in six months after this show has aired, much like Jes couldn’t wait either.
Bret decided to take Destiny and her family on a bike ride, and all the way to the tattoo parlor for their date. Destiny decided to not get a Heather tattoo, but instead, a Rock of Love heart. Bret admits that the tattoo and the look on Destiny’s face when she got it turned him on a bit.
Ambre and her dad headed out with Bret to a sushi restaurant, where Ambre’s father experienced raw fish for the first time. Bret brought up the fact that Ambre is 37 and lied about her age to him. Ambre acted like she never meant to lie and that she might have done it by accident because of her “career” (whatever it is, I guess she can’t be in the upper 30s). Bret revealed that he isn’t sure if he can trust her.
When the parents left, Ambre’s father commented, “I think any father believes their daughter deserves better than Bret, but he’s a really great guy.”
After the parents left, Destiny admitted that her heart is not Bret’s 100 percent because she doesn’t know him that well. Which is probably true, the other two might be in love with him, but how well do they really know him? Of course, when Destiny said she couldn’t answer Daisy’s question about whether she would still be on the show if John Stamos was the rock star, Daisy and Ambre had the fuel they needed to ignite the fire.
At the elimination, drama occurred when Daisy brought up that Destiny isn’t in love with Bret and Destiny said she could love Bret in the future, but that wasn’t enough for Bret and he sent her home. Bret cried as he said goodbye to her, but had to point out that he is not a crier.
Watch Rock of Love next week for the finale in Cancun! Sunday at 9 P.M. on VH1.
