Apple iTunes is currently the #1 U.S. music retailer.
Apple' s iTunes, exceeding traditional music CD retailing stores, has become the top music seller in the United States.
The Los Angeles Times reports that the Apple iTunes store has sold more albums within the past two months than any other music retailer. Having replaced the former top selling music retailer, Wal-Mart, reflects a growing shift in music consumerism. It is also reported that the gain may have been due to the redemption of Apple iTunes gift cards sold during the recent holiday period.
It is expected that the changes within the Internet/computer industry, and how consumers now shop, will also affect other traditional media based "brick and mortar" outlets.
