Sandler Breaks Ankle Playing Basketball
1-Apr-2008

Production on Sandler’s new film will not be affected.
Adam Sandler broke his ankle playing basketball over the weekend – but still won the game – according to a statement sent to the Associated Press from Sandler’s representative.
Sandler, the star of many enormously high grossing films like Happy Gilmore and I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, is currently shooting Walt Disney Pictures’ Bedtime Stories. In the film, due out later this year, the 41-year-old actor plays a hotel handyman whose bedtime stories magically come true, according to the Associated Press.
Sandler has made a career playing extremely similar characters (much like Will Ferrell nowadays), but has deviated from his extremely successful formula to play very difficult roles as well. Movies such as Punch Drunk Love and Spanglish have shown the former SNL cast member’s acting depth.
The statement released by Sandler’s representative Monday said that the ankle injury to the film’s star would not affect production. From this, it appears that while the ankle is broken, the injury isn’t terribly serious.
