Growing Pains on Dec. 18th
Mary J. Blige, proudly dubbed “The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul,” is set to release her ninth studio album "Growing Pains" on December 18th of this year.
Her Michael Jackson-inspired single “Just Fine” is now resting in the #10 spot on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart of Billboard. In the beginning of the up-tempo song -– which is perfect for any party -– Mary gives a brief introduction, very similar to the one Michael Jackson did on his hit song “Don’t Stop ‘Till You Get Enough.” Blige even emulates the high-pitched scream that he did. In the song, Blige talks about how great her life is, and she’s still going to “wear a smile, even if it’s rainin’.”
In the video, Blige is dancing and singing alone in graphic-filled scenes. Each scene has special effects; in one scene she is surrounded by rotating mirrors and her clothes change as she sings, “So I like what I see when I’m lookin’ at me when I’m walkin’ pass the mirror.” The Jackson-dedicated scene is full of his dance moves and Blige in a suit; it’s a black fitted suit, with a white shirt underneath and a big pink bow tie -– just like Jackson’s in his 1980s video.
iTunes has “Just Fine” as a separate single available for purchase, and the entire album will be available on December 18th.
