O.J. Simpson Arraigned
2-Dec-2007
Written by: Marcella Glenn
There is a possibility O.J. Simpson will get a paid vacation in the “Big House.“
A Las Vegas judge set his trial for April 7, 2008, according to, reporter, Micheal Muskal.
Simpson and co-defendants were charged with allegations of robbery. The alleged assault was against two men who dealt
in sports memorabilia.
Simpson and the other two co-defendants pleaded not guilty, in Judge Jackie Glass' court room. And defense lawyers promised to file motions contesting the charges, in months to come.
Simpson strolled in the building, showing no outward appearances of nervousness. He shot television cameras a grin. He chatted with various people in the court room prior to the judge's arrival.
He also show-cased his teeth on the way out and as he entered his vehicle.
Mr. Galanter, Simpson's lawyer, mentioned that his client was happy to be going home. He explained that the trial could take up to two months. The
reason? Most of the time will be spent on jury selection.
"I don't think anyone is ever ready to go through the rigors of a trial, but that is the situation we are faced with and we're certainly going to do the
best we can," Mr. Galanter said.
O.J. Simpson is sixty-years-old and lives in Miami.
The actual charges against him are kidnapping, armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, conspiracy and coercion relating to the September 13, 2007, incident with the sports collectors.
If found guilty, he will
get life in prison for the kidnapping charges. There is mandatory prison time for the robbery indictment.
Simpson stated he only went to recover personal items, which had been stolen by a former agent.
The prosecution chronicled that Simpson, Clarence Stewart and Charles Ehrlich stole tens of thousands of dollars worth of sports collectibles that were never owned by Simpson.
